The Fort Lauderdale Show is a family-friendly event which takes place in the Florida sunlight. It exhibits boats, yachts and accessories with a selected accent on superyachts. The local interest in fishing is mirrored in the quantity of fishing related events. There’s teaching for adults with particular sessions for women and youngsters.

Youngsters in the 4-16 age range can learn how to fish with Captain Don Dingman, presenter of children’s television show, Hook the Future. They also get the opportunity to do some face painting. Southampton Show is the big event on the calendar of ship shows in Britain. The event in September of 2007 was a major success and offered a multitude of activities and the chance to explore the beautiful pier. The United States Coast Guard maintains a statistical database that breaks down the number and type of accidents in any given year. The major type of water-related boating accident is a collision between two boats, with 1237 accidents, 60 deaths, 856 injuries in 2008. Sinking, flooding or swamping are also common forms of accidents, with 475 accidents in the same year, with 89 deaths and 179 injuries. Falls overboard accounted for 431 accidents, 188 deaths and 257 injuries; and skier issues caused 383 accidents, 10 deaths and 397 injuries.
